Are you searching for an excellent prom gown but seem like crying since the pretty ones tend to be so expensive? Well, you now really can get reduced pretty prom gowns to match your spending budget. To begin with most of the shops are selling knock-offs of gowns that you simply saw at the different award ceremonies.
If you loved an outfit from the Oscars, Gold Globe awards and so on, you'll find great copies of these gowns at wedding shops, evening wear retailers and some of the shops. A few of these gowns are only about $99.00.
But when $99.00 is simply too much, you may opt to rent your dress. Inexpensive pretty prom gowns may also be had for a few days after which back they go to the leasing company. What one business does is actually purchase custom gowns at wholesale and rent them for around $60.00 to $190.00. You are able to rent the dress for usually a period of time in between 4 to 8 days.Additionally you will most likely to have the choice to purchase an additional size of the same gown for free. That choice is very useful because depending on the producer, the best size for you personally will be different. Moreover, you may be able to purchase the back-up style for around a $30.00 extra cost. Check online for these types of gown leasing businesses.
If you do not like the thought of leasing but nonetheless would like cheap pretty prom gowns think about resell retailers. You have to discover the trendy retailers in your area or city. They are most likely to have women who often go to occasions needing formals. You're going to get a great choice of formal dresses in good shape. Usually, these types of women just put on the gowns several times and then might sell the gowns to invest in their own next purchase.
The most crucial standards for choosing an inexpensive pretty prom gown is you really feel wonderful in it. Self-confidence is definitely the best accessory. Subsequent, verify and find out if you're able to move in the gown easily. Additionally, think about what type of undergarments you'll need.Maybe the dress requires costly undergarments and may find yourself costing too much once you buy them. Consider footwear as well. Seek advice from friends that wears the same size they might have footwear to give.

Fashion News: Lady Gaga's new scent will not smell like blood
Lady Gaga says her new perfume will be based in molecules from her own blood, but won't smell like itRemember reports earlier this year that the new perfume Lady Gaga has in development with Coty will smell like blood? It turns out the perfume, which is expected early next year, is based on molecules of her own blood, "so it's a sense of having me on your skin," she says now. "Actually the perfume smells like an expensive hooker."Lady Gaga says her new perfume will be based in molecules from her own blood, but won't smell like itRemember reports earlier this year that the new perfume Lady Gaga has in development with Coty will smell like blood? Net-a-porter has begun selling replicas of the cowl-necked Alexander McQueen gown bridesmaid Pippa Middleton wore at the royal wedding of her sister Kate and Prince William back in April. It's available on the online retailer's British site for $3,100. It's not on the U.S. site at present, but I did find a street-length red dress in a similar style (for $1,680).It was inevitable: Many items from the Versace for H&M collection that went on sale last week are being hawked on eBay. But many aren't selling; prices are too high. Valentino and business partner Giancarlo Giammetti plan to launch the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum on Dec. 5 (you can preview it now). It will include views of 300 dresses from more than 50 years of Valentino's career, including Jacqueline Kennedy's wedding gown.Sir Paul Smith has been named winner of the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design prize, Britain's highest fashion honor. It will be given as part of the British Fashion Awards later this month.
It's no surprise then that Minaj, whose personality is as colorful as KRELwear, has become a fan. The rapper's Miami-based stylist, Jessica Bosch, has decked out Minaj in KRELwear pieces for everything from fashion spreads and music videos, to her performance on Late Show With David Letterman. Alanis Morissette, Cameron Diaz, and Carmen Electra have also worn KRELwear.

Fashion trends for holiday party nights
Undecided about what to wear to holiday parties this season? For many women, there’s no need to look beyond the closet for the little black dress. The classic style, introduced decades ago by Coco Chanel, is among the hottest styles this season. With a few well-chosen accessories, the LBD can hold its own with the latest trends.“A sparkly shoe and a colorful clutch will make your little black dress pop,” said Emily Goodin, owner of Boutique Couture on Market Street. “But if your dress is the statement, keep the accessories simple — maybe an oversized cocktail ring and simple diamond stud earrings.”
Women looking to update their holiday wardrobes will find styles this year are all about glamour. Popular choices are vintage-inspired, fully sequined cocktail dresses and evening gowns in golds, deep greens, reds and charcoal gray, the top color of the season, according to Goodin.“People are dressing up again,” she said. “After a long bout of the tacky Christmas sweater, we’re trending back to cocktail and evening attire for holiday parties.”
Chattanoogan Barbara Rico, owner of Rico Monument Co., said she tries to add a few new items to her holiday attire each year.“I follow the trends to see if the latest styles are something I could or would wear,” she said. “I love some of the vintage-style dresses with the sequin jackets.”Laurie Shipley, of Chattanooga, a retirement plan specialist at Barnett & Co.,Oliver Tolentino dresses Gwendoline Ruais for Miss World. said she recently purchased a long evening gown and two cocktail dresses after looking over her existing holiday party attire and finding it “old and boring.”
“I’m tired of black [so] I went bold,” she said. My long gown is a jersey (stretch fabric) Christmas red that I can accessorize in a variety of ways. The short cocktail dresses [in royal blue and eggplant] are both chiffon overlays, which give a breezy, carefree, yet sophisticated look,” Shipley said.In keeping with another trend, Shipley’s new dresses have sequins and beading.“I guess I’ve had black for so long, and I do still have the traditional little black dress, but [I] wanted to be festive, have fun and wanted my holiday wardrobe to reflect that,” she said. Some of the season’s trendy dresses also have texture such as ruffles, feathers and fringe, Goodin said. One-shoulder silhouettes, straps and even long sleeves are other changes in formalwear.“We’re seeing all different lengths this year,” she said.
Whether the style is floor length, ankle length, tea, knee or mini, “choose what fits your body,” she said. For the finishing touches, choose shoes and accessories that complement the look, rather than compete with it.A simple dress, for example, could be amped up with embellished flats or glittery platforms, while a statement dress would need a nude shoe. Similar rules apply to handbags — perhaps a clutch in a bold color, such as royal blue, or a champagne purse with lace detail, to complete the ensemble.

Dresses at a bargain in Elgin
Piyush Patel found himself in an unusual role Saturday, casting “yes” or “no” votes as his wife tried on dress after dress at the YWCA in Elgin. The pair was shopping at Cindy’s Super Saturday Gown Sale, which featured about 3,000 dresses for women of all ages and sizes. “Now I am a fashion consultant, later I will be a cashier,” Patel joked. He and his wife, Gopi Patel, said they were impressed by the variety of dresses and their near-pristine condition. A few new dresses were also for sale.
“And they are only $25! It’s for a good cause, so if she wears them two times only, it’s still a good price,” Piyush Patel said. The gown sale was organized by the YWCA and the Elgin Junior Service Board, and all of its proceeds will go toward funding the annual Cinderella’s Closet, which next year takes place March 17. Cinderella’s Closet is a prom dress event for high school girls.
The selection of about 3,000 dresses couldn’t help but tempt her, too, said YWCA event coordinator Deirdre White, a past president of the Elgin Junior Service Board. She had picked out a forest green, strapless silk organza dress to wear that same night at a cocktail event at The Centre of Elgin.Feel fabulous when the party season arrives in beautiful dresses from Eva Alexander.Another satisfied customer was Larkin High School senior Allison Chmiola, who had volunteered to help set up the sale — now in its second year — and had set aside three long dresses and several short dresses. As for how many she’d walk away with, well, it would all depend on what her mother was willing to buy her, Allison said smiling.
Despite the rainbow of colors available, sometimes you just can’t find what you want, said Gloria Serrano of Carpentersville, who was looking for a dress for her 15th birthday party in January. “It’s a certain blue that I wanted, I just didn’t see it,” she said.

Oliver Tolentino dresses Gwendoline Ruais for Miss World
Gwendoline Ruais became the highest Miss Philippines to rank in 37 years when she was named "1st Runner Up" (Miss Venezuela won). Gwen wore a red flowy chiffon Oliver Tolentino gown with a slit in the leg that was made expressly for her for the pageant. The gown had a bodice beaded with red Swarovski crystals and a nude skin back. This was a personal honor for Oliver because it's the first time a Filipino designer has been allowed to create clothes in many decades under new country manager Cory Quirino.
Coincidentally, the first "1st Runner Up" 37 years ago was Evangeline Pascual who hails from Orani, Bataan. Oliver, also from Orani, is a distant cousin of Ms. Pascual. For the pageant, Gwen also wore an Oliver Tolentino pina & abaca modern terno for the national costume portion of the TV show. In addition, Gwen was photographed in about a dozen of Oliver's outfits while she was in London.
She wore Oliver's dyed-blue pina skirt and blouse outfit to depart Manila and arrive in London, a silver sequined long gown when contestants were photographed along the Thames River, a green chiffon for the first charity event, and a raw silk cocoon cocktail dress at another event, among others.Oliver somehow found time to make Gwen's outfits before returning to Los Angeles from Manila where he was honored as the Samsung 2011 MetroWear Icon of the Philippines by Metro & Metro Society magazines, in conjunction with the ABS-CBN TV network, last October 24.
As the MetroWear Icon, Tolentino presented a 75+-piece collection at the Sofitel Hotel Harbor Tent in a solo gala attended by the rich and famous of Manila society. Oliver chose charities Bantay Bata and Sagip Kapamilya to benefit from the invitation-only event. Ironically for Oliver, a designer from Bataan province who now dresses celebrities in Hollywood, this was his first gala in Manila.Spotted at the show were former First Lady Imelda Marcos, the Princess of Brunei, actor Sam Milby, and members of the Lopez, Henry Sy, Lucio Tan, Pangilinan, and Tantoco families. Celebrity walkers included Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Venus Raj, Jake Cuenca, Pinky de Leon, Joan Bitigco, Marina Benipayo, Ria Salgado, Tutay Maristela, Empress Shuck, Divine Lee, Megan Young, Victor Basa, members of the Azkals football team, and a once-in-a-lifetime walk by Kuh Ledesma.

David Walliams transforms into all five members of One Direction
He's known for his hilarious Little Britain characters including an obese spa enthusiast, an insanely jealous Prime Minister's aid and chavtastic teenager Vicky. But David Walliams has channeled real-life boy band One Direction in his latest interview. The comedian dressed as all five members: Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson.
With Niall's blonde hair, Harry's bow-tie and Zayn Malik's quiff, the resemblance to the former X Factor contestants is uncanny. David, 40, says he met Niall when he went to see the show last year.'Niall came up to me and told me that he’d been to see Matt and me in Little Britain Live when we went on tour,' he told Heat magazine.
'I was sitting there in the audience and they were on stage at the end of the show and I saw him pointing me out to the rest of the band, so I gave him a wave.'The newlywed actor also spoke about rumours he would become a judge on Britain's Got Talent. He said he hadn't been asked but would like to do the show.'I’d think about it. But the chemistry with the other judges would have to be right. Ant and Dec are the stars of that show for me. I’d love to work with them again – I wrote for them years ago and they’re such a laugh.'
He says he has been watching this year's X factor religiously.'I'm a big fan of Gary Barlow. I think he’s amazing on it. I did wonder whether the show would work without Simon Cowell, because he’s the one whose opinion we all trusted. He’s generally right.'But Gary is so assured and so knowledgeable about the business that he’s perfect. He also looks so good. I want his stylist and nutritionist.'
David revealed camp 'over' contestant Johnny Robinson was his favourite. Last night, David dressed up in his spooky best for Jonathan Ross' Halloween party, joining a host of celebrities including Alan Carr and Michael McIntyre. The couple reportedly signed a deal for a reality-TV show with Roy Bank, the president of Merv Griffin Entertainment. Krista Stodden, the teen's mother and manager, told Radar she thinks Bank will find the show a home on a "the best network for her."In her signature collection, dresses go from $650 to $1,000. The dresses in the Marie Saint Pierre for Reitmans collection will sell for $85 and $95.
Though manufactured in Montreal, the line is made from fabrics, such as a stretch polyester jersey, from Asia. The lower price is also made possible by a larger production run. Though Reitmans is not revealing exactly how large that is, Saint Pierre will say that quantities are higher than what she is accustomed to.

Handcrafted cocktail dresses take center stage
I tried on six dresses in total. Two were absolute flops (I can’t blame my mother for her choice, because all the dresses were bagged. She didn’t know that the bottom ballooned into a ball gown-on-crack overload of taffeta. The top was nice, in her defence.) And two were total hits. One of the hits received comments like “You look like Grace Kelly!” and “You could rule Monaco in that dress!” (three guesses what the dress looked like), and the other was basically a tangible representation of what I, my bridesmaids and my mother had all pictured me in once we wrapped our heads around the fact that I’m getting married.
Of course that dress – the only one that made me squeal just a little bit – was much too expensive. Despite some calls to “say yes to the dress!” I vowed to begin my search for a cheaper alternative. It may be possible to order the dress somewhere else much cheaper. For example Ashton Station bridal boutique, also in Carleton Place, had a comparable dress for 25 per cent less, which I found at the Ottawa Wedding Show at Lansdowne Park the same day.Buying special dresses for special occasions. After all, my colleague Kristy got a stunning dress (with pockets!) for only $85. It can be done.
I’ll embark on this mission because, despite my mother’s insistence that it’s on her bill so it doesn’t matter, I’m still an eco bride at heart. I’m still the practical girl who hates to waste money on frivolity (unless it involves wine...) and I’m not sure I can justify buying a Paloma Blanca dress just because my mother says I can. I already found my centrepiece materials at Value Village, and now that I know I have a dream dress, I can try to find it while sticking to my rather stubborn frugal values! Capital Brides, I’ll keep you posted.
Sophisticated detailing: Makers are incorporating more handcrafted features. Ribbon is wrapped or folded around the whole dress or the bodice. Beads, sequins and stones are manually sewn. Shirred torsos, pleated waistbands and pickup skirts are also pinned and set by hand.Current colors: Although black styles dominate output, gold and ivory are becoming more popular among suppliers. On the back of strong color in recent runway shows, many releases also come in sea blue, fuchsia and green.
Price forecast: Product quotes rose 20 to 30 percent in the past year due to mounting material and labor costs. Further augmentation of 10 to 20 percent is expected in the months ahead as spending for worker salaries and benefits continues to climb.

Needle artist creates heirlooms
My work is traditional children's garments and quilts. I have made baby quilts and hand smocked christening gowns and little girls dresses for family and friends.I have been sewing all my life. I majored in textiles and clothing at the University of Maryland College Park but did not start heirloom sewing and smocking until my first daughter was born in 1973. I have four daughters, six nieces and three granddaughters so I have a lot of experience sewing for little girls. I have one grandson that I made a christening dress for, but now he prefers shirts and jeans.
I didn't start to make quilts until I took a part- time job at a quilt shop and I was hooked. I have made lots of baby quilts for my grandchildren and the babies of friends.I am inspired by my grandchildren.Navajo Nation Fights Urban Outfitters Over 'Disrespectful' Clothing Line. They look so beautiful all dressed up for Christmas or Easter that I have to keep sewing.Right now my biggest challenges are finding time to sew and finding the quality of fabric and laces I need to do heirloom sewing.
Do you have a job outside of your art?Yes, several jobs. My husband and I own All Seasons Farm where we raise registered polled Hereford cattle. We also raise sheep and goats. I keep the books for my family's real estate business and I work full time at Tractor Supply in Pocomoke City.
Who is your favorite artist?I think that would be Martha Pullen. She has done so much to revive the art of heirloom sewing through her Sew Beautiful magazine and website. One day I would love to attend her Heirloom sewing classes in Alabama.
Where in the community can your work be seen?Right now I have two smocked dresses entered in the needle arts show at the Julia A. Purnell Museum in Snow Hill, on display though Oct. 30.
What do you think the Eastern Shore can do to improve its art scene? We have some wonderful local quilt shops here on the Shore but I would love to see a shop that sold quality apparel fabric and lace and offered classes in smocking and heirloom sewing. Now to find the cotton batiste that I need for smocking I have to order online or go to the western shore or Richmond.

Buying special dresses for special occasions
Social norms and class barriers have altered considerably over the last 20 years and as a result people have consistently adopted a less rigid approach to dressing for special occasions. Now dressing down as opposed to dressing up is almost universally accepted across all strata of society in the UK. Up to the onset of the 1970s dressing for occasions was incredibly defined, perhaps even regimental with exact attire expected to be worn at certain society functions, regardless of whether or any other external 'excuses'. For example, how often did we see gentlemen sweltering in the posh seats at Wimbledon Tennis Tournaments wearing decidedly uncomfortable jackets and ties in the middle of July, alongside ladies in incredibly formal dresses with pinned on hats looking as though they wear about to pass out at any moment, just because society dictated their outfits?
Thankfully, dress rules have been relaxed in many social situations including at prestige sporting events, and now being comfortable in addition to looking smart are the important factors for modern clothing.Fashion Houston: 5 questions with Barbara Tfank. However, the relaxation of severe dress codes hasn't resulted in a total loss of elegance. People are just more inventive about constructing their own individual look.
With the spread of dressing down for almost any occasion it can be difficult to pinpoint a suitably 'posh' dress for the prom, a wedding or any other special occasion. Not because there aren't any to be found, but rather the complete opposite; it may be difficult to determine exactly what a suitable dress is for any of those occasions simply because of the availability of such a huge selection of different styles and colours!
There are many different styles for each occasion, such as for the prom; strapless or strappy dresses with or without taffeta all available in classic black, daring bright colours or even on-trend jungle print. Indeed, there is no need for any girl not to feel unique, individual and special and better still many quality high street dresses are available for under £100, at the same time looking much more expensive. Dresses for weddings are abundantly available with a huge choice to be found in any high street department store. Or, for a special evening out take your choice from a colourful selection of long or mid-length dresses. Indeed, whatever the occasion demands you'll find the perfect dress on the high street.

Navajo Nation Fights Urban Outfitters Over 'Disrespectful' Clothing Line
Urban Outfitters' line of Navajo-branded clothing and accessories has set off a firestorm online and within the Navajo Nation government, with allegations of trademark violations and criticism of the products -- particularly underwear and a liquor flask -- that many tribal members consider disrespectful.Native American-inspired prints have shown up on runways for years, and it's common for designers to borrow from other cultures. But the Navajo government's issue with Urban Outfitters is the clothing chain's use of the name "Navajo" on its products and in marketing. The tribe holds at least 10 trademarks on the name that cover clothing, footwear, online retail sales, household products and textiles.
The tribe's Department of Justice sent Urban Outfitters CEO Glen Senk a cease-and-desist letter in June, demanding that the company pull the Navajo name from its products. The tribe has received no response but says it remains "cautiously optimistic" it can persuade Urban Outfitters to adopt another name and trademark."When products that have absolutely no connection to the Navajo Nation, its entities, its people, and their products are marketed and retailed under the guise that they are Navajo in origin, the Navajo Nation does not regard this as benign or trivial," said Brian Lewis, an attorney for the tribe.Cheap Pretty Prom Dresses - Don't Spend An Arm And A Leg This Prom. "It takes appropriate action to maintain distinctiveness and clarity of valid name association in the market and society."
Urban Outfitters, which has stores across the country and overseas, said it has not heard from the Navajo Nation and has no plans to alter its products."Like many other fashion brands, we interpret trends and will continue to do so for years to come," company spokesman Ed Looram said. "The Native American-inspired trend and specifically the term `Navajo' have been cycling through fashion, fine art and design for the last few years."
While the Navajo Nation has not threatened legal action, law professor Bill Hennessey thinks it has a strong case. He said the tribe could argue the products cause confusion among customers about who manufactured them.
"If you're going to maintain control over your mark, the more quickly you bring an action against the infringer, the more likely the federal court is going to grant an injunction order prohibiting Urban Outfitters from continuing to use the word `Navajo,"' said Hennessey, who teaches at the University of New Hampshire's Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property.

Fashion Houston: 5 questions with Barbara Tfank
Los Angeles-based Barbara Tfank showed her Elizabeth Taylor-inspired collection on opening night of Fashion Houston. The event continues with fashion shows through Thursday at Wortham Theater Center for ticket information.
We caught up with Tfank after the show:
Your collections are show in New York and Los Angeles, why come to Fashion Houston
There’s so much energy here, and people enjoy getting dressed up. That’s the type of clothes I design.
What’s it like designing for famous women, like the curvaceous singer, Adele?Vogue asked me to design a Grammy Awards’ dress for Adele. She was 19 at the time. I can’t even count how many wedding dresses I’ve done for her. I am really happy to be able to help shape her image. Adele has empowered a lot of young women, showing them that you can have style and sophistication regardless of your size. Adele is very happy with who she is.
And what about working with First Lady Michelle Obama? The First Lady wore one of my dresses for the Wounded Warrior Project. It was such a poignant occasion. To see her among the troops in this floral dress, looking like a beautiful blossom, was such an honor.
Are your clothes New York or LA?My clothes are really more New York. People are starting to buy them in LA, but they are dressy. In LA, people are either in jeans or gowns. I try to set an example. I’m not going to dress down just because everyone else does.
Are you pleased that ladylike fashions have returned? The pendulum has turned toward me, and I’m glad of that. I hear this all across the country: Women want femininity. People are embracing feminine curves. That makes me happy.
“There a few big names in the fashion industry that are notorious for ‘sampling’ the models before they took the job. Basically, it comes down to a choice of whether you are willing to throw your principles overboard to accelerate your career,” said former model Ariane Sommer. “It becomes more problematic, however, if the model in question is extremely young and impressionable. These girls often don’t know how to stand up for themselves and are like a deer in the headlights.”

A day in the life of a bus driver: On the road again
Here and elsewhere in Burlington County, when the school bells ring, the school buses roll.
On Tuesday, at the dawn of a new academic year, the familiar yellow vehicles could be seen lumbering along local streets picking up and discharging their passengers. Some first-day-of-school scenes were predictable and familiar to Bea Fraser, who has driven for the district for five years. “Sometimes for a new kindergartner, parents and grandparents are waiting with them at the bus stop with their cameras,’’ Fraser said.
Then there are the family dogs that bark their goodbyes, and the older children, all confidence on the outside, who pray silently that their carefully chosen outfits meet with their friends’ cheap formal dresses. Another kindergartner might burst into tears at the sight of the bus and decide that going to school is a bad idea, but whatever the uncertainties, when Fraser is behind the wheel, the children can count on a warm smile and often a big hug. She celebrates with those who are happy and sympathizes with those who are not. Her advice to an anxious parent: “Just turn around and walk away.’’
“She is like a second mother to them. She calls them ‘my kids,’ “ said Alana Lum, district transportation coordinator and a former driver herself. Like many drivers, Fraser sees the same children every year, watching them grow and mature. In this way, she offers more continuity than the teachers, who change every September. The driver of Bus No. 6, which serves the district’s Hillside and Hartford schools, Fraser knows that she is the link between Mom and Dad and the new world her passengers are entering.
Even before they meet their new teachers, the children will say “good morning” to Mrs. Bea, as they call her. “How you greet them is how their day will go,’’ said the Cinnaminson resident, who drove a bus for the Moorestown schools for six years before coming to Mount Laurel, where she is one of 60 drivers, about half of them women. Her day begins early when the alarm rings at 4:30. She dresses carefully and quickly, having put out her clothes on a hangar the night before. Because the children often comment on her outfits, Fraser chooses them with care, even her jewelry, which complements what she is wearing.

Advice Goddess: Philandering boyfriend and cheating husband
My boyfriend lives in Germany, and I'm in Switzerland (a one-hour plane ride away). His close female friend is getting married, and I'm not invited to the wedding. Last spring, when we were broken up for three months, he had a fling with the bride's friend. As a courtesy to the fling woman, I'm blacklisted. Last summer, when we got back together, I asked that he clear up things with his fling immediately, which he agreed to do. Our relationship grew stronger for a couple weeks, and then I learned he was going on vacation with her. (He had already booked the trip and didn't want to cancel!) Fun fact: He wrote me a postcard while away with her. I was incredibly hurt. Only when I screamed at him afterward did he muster the courage to break up with her. Since then, he has been nothing short of wonderful and tells me I'm the one. I love him, but I'm feeling humiliated by this wedding situation. He has promised to try to persuade the bride to invite me but feels he shouldn't miss her wedding.
Where To Buy A Cheap Designer Prom Dress? What kind of man sends his girlfriend a postcard from his sex vacation with his fling? Well, probably one who got to the gift shop too late to buy her an I Cheated On You At Euro Disney snow globe or an I Had Sex With Another Woman At Lake Lucerne bobblehead.
Happily, you report that the guy's been nothing short of wonderful post-vacation -- save for how quick he was to throw you under the wedding bus as a courtesy to his ex-sex friend. Your boyfriend -- let's call him Werner von Bendover -- is a suckup of legendary proportions. As hurtful as this has been for you, he probably isn't driven by malevolence, just a crushing need to be liked. This is tough to overcome because it typically traces back to parents who gave conditional love (I'll love you, you rotten kid, if you dry the dishes). He has no problem saying no to you -- probably because he feels secure that you love him -- but for everyone else, it's Shall I lick your boots or just use my toothbrush and a little soapy water?
A people pleaser is an emotional chameleon, constantly transforming himself into the person he thinks other people want him to be. If your boyfriend ever had values and opinions of his own, they're probably so long gone that he has no idea how to find them. (Too bad you can't look them up on Facebook like an old school chum: Hey, whassup?!) It was only when you made some squeak of objection about the vacation plans -- letting old Werner know he'd displeased you -- that he flew into action. He wasn't about to cancel and disappoint the other woman and his travel agent just to preserve the dignity of the woman he (supposedly) loves. But, he did loop you in with a postcard: Gerta wore her milkmaid outfit today. Wish you were here!
